Should I Get A Second Opinion?

If you have been diagnosed with a serious injury or your physician is prescribing medications or procedures you do not want to receive, you have the right to get a second opinion. Getting a second opinion may not change the outcome if you have a life threatening disease such as cancer. On the other hand, not all physicians agree on the type of treatment even for cancer. There are many different types of chemotherapy and other treatments available to try to stability or rid the body of cancer. In some cases, surgery is the answer while other surgery will not remove the cancer and chemotherapy is the answer.

With any decision that will alter your life in any way it is always best to get a second opinion. If you are concerned about your rights and receiving medical care, you should talk with a bad plastic surgery attorney that understands the laws governing patient rights. Talking with your family regarding the physicians diagnosis as well as treatment options is often more helpful than getting the opinion of the 10 physicians.

Any medical procedure that can be life threatening should cause you to want a second opinion. You may find that an easier and even less expensive procedure will provide you with the treatment you need without being life threatening. Consulting with an accident attorney specializing in medical malpractice is recommended.
